Your Weight Loss Coach
Who Am I?
My name is Leanne Magraith from Adelaide South Australia. I enjoy an active lifestyle going to the gym, running and long beach walks. In 2007 at age 46 I undertook my own weight loss journey, and participated in a 12 week body blitz. I transformed my body and my life and now I want to help you.
I am passionate about helping women to lose weight, and firmly believe that every person has amazing potential and that you can achieve almost anything if you put your mind to it.
My experience has shown me that weight loss is a complex multi-dimensional process. External change needs to be preceded by internal change, and I understand what is required to achieve this.
My Approach
Psychology
My overall approach to weight loss is a psychological approach. Your attitudes, thoughts and beliefs ultimately drive your decisions and behaviours. Addressing the underlying issues allows you to move forward towards your goals.
Coach and Mentor
I am a coach, mentor, counsellor and more. Together we will identify the barriers that are holding you back and then put in place strategies to overcome this. My coaching will empower you to step out of your comfort zone and establish healthy life long habits.
Support and Encouragement
I am caring and supportive, and understand the weight loss journey is not always plain sailing. With the right encouragement though you will be surprised at what you can achieve.
The Velvet Sledgehammer
There is another side to me as well, which is just as important. I also go by the name of the velvet sledgehammer. This means that although I am very caring I am also tough when needed. This means that sometimes it will be necessary to tell you what you need to hear rather than what you want to hear.
Accountability
I will be your accountability partner throughout your program. Accountability is an important part of your weight loss journey. Knowing that you have to “report in” to someone will help to keep you on track.
Qualifications and Background
I am a qualified personal trainer with Certificate 3 & 4 in Personal Training and Master Trainer qualifications.
I have a double major degree in Psychology and Biology. The psychology studies enable me to draw on numerous strategies such as neurolinguistic programming (NLP) to address issues in relation to attitudes, thoughts and beliefs and ultimately behaviour.
My degree in Biology and a keen interest in nutrition means that I have a good knowledge of the body’s nutritional needs at the macro and micro level. (I have even bravely endured
mindless hours at university studying the incredibly complex biochemical pathways involved in metabolism).
Participating in the 12 week body blitz had a profound effect on me. It fired up my passion to help other women. I understand how difficult it can be to change deeply entrenched habits. I also learnt how incredibly resilient we are and what we are capable of with the right mind set.
I started out by helping a handful of women with their weight loss journey on a purely voluntary basis. I enjoyed this experience and wanted to take it to the next level, hence I decided to start this business.
